Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
—Galatians 6:10
Right now, millions of our brothers and sisters in the faith all over the world are living in a place or situation that puts them at risk for being a Christian. The persecution they endure may come from their government, community, or even their own family. Yet they risk their livelihoods and lives each day to stay faithful to their calling as believers.
While much persecution around the globe takes the form of direct harassment or threats, just as real… and often just as challenging… is the removal of economic opportunity afforded to Christians who live in areas of persecution.
One bi-vocational pastor in East Africa, for example, had a padlock placed on his business by his landlord, who was being pressured by the community to pressure him to move because his church was seeing so many come to faith.
With the help of friends like you, iReach conducts microloan programs for aspiring entrepreneurs within our discipleship groups.
These small-business loans are funded by iReach, and are disbursed to group members, who then have a set number of months to pay it back. Once the loan is paid back, the same amount is then loaned to another group member, until all group members have had the chance to receive a loan.
“I used the microloan to start a business, and I can now help provide for my family. My children don’t go to bed hungry now, and I’m so thankful.”
