Just a few months ago, violence in Nigeria filled the news cycle. Each day brought stories of more attacks, more families displaced, and more lives lost. For a moment, the world was paying attention.
But today, the headlines have moved on while the crisis our Nigerian brothers and sisters are facing has remained.
A recent report from a watchdog group estimates that more than 1,400 Nigerian believers were killed in the first three months of 2026. That’s an average of 14 believers killed every single day. In fact, Nigeria still remains the deadliest place in the world to follow Jesus.
One of our frontline workers recently told us…
“The security situation here is growing worse by the day. The attackers are becoming better resourced than ever and even bolder in their attacks than they were last year. Every Christian I know is terrified of what will happen next.”
While the media has moved on from these precious families, you haven’t. Through your support, you’ve continued to stand with our brothers and sisters… people who are still facing the daily reality of violence at the hands of radical militants bent on creating an Islamic state in Africa’s Sahel region.
That’s why this summer’s Turn Up the Light campaign is so important.
Because, especially now, we can’t afford to tap the brakes for even a moment to take gospel-centered care to persecuted believers in Africa.
These are people like Martha, who shared…
“I didn’t just receive food. I didn’t just see people showing up for us. I received Jesus. I lost everything, my husband and 4 children, but I found Jesus.”
This is the moment when people like Martha are most at risk of being forgotten. Not right after an attack, but weeks later, when the attention is gone and the need remains.
Because of you, iReach Global frontline workers are still there delivering emergency survival kits to families who have lost everything. Each kit you help provide includes food, essential supplies, and a Bible… enough to sustain a family for up to two weeks. But more than that, it tells them, “You are not alone. You have not been forgotten. God loves you, and we do too.”
That message matters more than you know, as so many of our fellow believers are right now hanging on by a thread.
So thank you for staying when others leave. Thank you for refusing to look away. And thank you for your support to Turn Up the Light in the world’s darkest places this summer and beyond.
